Between January 9 and 14, the first edition of the ARCA International Film Festival will be held at MACA, the Atchugarry Museum of Contemporary Art located in Manantiales. A week dedicated to filmography devoted to art, photography, architecture and design to explore aspects related to creation, through moving and challenging films. Mercedes Sader producer and film director. Director of Black Gallery. Cultural manager. Art curator oriented towards contemporary art. Co-producer in three editions of the “International Exhibition of Experimental Cinema Break Limits”. Since 2011, together with Coral Cine, the most prominent documentary film production company in Uruguay, he has carried out the executive production of the documentaries Todavía el amor and Mirando al cielo by director Guzmán García, Maracaná and Sangre de Campeones by directors Sebastián Bednarik and Andrés Varela, and Fattoruso by Santiago Bednarik. In 2014, together with Pati Fernández Graña, he co-founded Black Gallery, a contemporary art gallery specializing in Uruguayan artists. It acts as a center for the production and promotion of its artists and their works at an international level. As of 2018 she is an art advisor for the Ministerio de Diseño portal, in which she regularly writes articles about art. Currently she directs the ARCA film festival, Black Gallery and carries out independent curatorship projects.
Sebastián Bednarik has been an author since 1993, beginning in the performing arts and as a screenwriter. He teaches Audiovisual Production at the Escuela de Cine del Uruguay. In the last decade he has directed and produced more than 10 feature films, including documentaries and fiction, including La Matinée, Cachila, Mundialito, Todavía el amor, Maracaná, Fattoruso, Mi mundial y Sangre de Campeones. He is the co-director of the film production company Coral Cine and Efecto Cine, a company dedicated to the projection of itinerant cinema. He is executive director of the ARCA festival.
