WALDEN NATURAE
Garzón | Uruguay
Buenos Aires | Argentina
Directors | Ricardo Ocampo and Federico Curutchet
In Pueblo Garzón, Uruguay, surrounded by hills, olive trees, and vineyards, Walden Naturae offers an exhibition program promoting ecological and artistic initiatives in connection with the environment, aims to create a unique and conducive context for art while seeking to renew the traditional concept of exhibition space, and is committed to playing an active role in the local and international art scene. Walden Naturae is part of W, founded in 2016 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The gallery has established itself as a platform for critical reflection on artistic processes, production conditions, cultural practices, and political-affective connections between artworks, artists, audiences, and institutions.
W has two locations in Buenos Aires: W—Archivo develops a program of exhibitions focused on archive material, editorial work, and research as a process, and W—Galería, with ambitious institutional programming, exhibits contemporary proposals in its four large-scale rooms and an impressive garden.
Alongside year-round exhibitions and participation in international art fairs, W publishes artist books and essays with its editorial label, and since 2019, produces Yulinda, a biannual publication for artistic dissemination, discussion, and critical analysis, encouraging research on contemporary artistic practices.
