The José Gurvich Foundation was created in Montevideo at the end of 2001 in order to promote the work and life of the Uruguayan artist José Gurvich. Before the establishment of this institution, the artist's widow and her son were privately involved in the dissemination of the painter's work. During the last years the Gurvich family was dedicated to the formation of the Foundation with the idea of adding the support of other people to the dissemination of the artist's work.
