PARTICIPATE IN ESTE ARTE 2026

CURATORIAL VISION

ONSITE SOLO SHOWS
Each exhibitor presents a single artist within their fair booth. This may involve a single work, an installation, or a selection of pieces, as long as all belong to the same artist. This format allows for a more coherent and focused presentation, highlighting the artist’s vision without distractions. For the gallery, it represents a strategic opportunity to build a strong narrative and enhance its positioning. Collectors and visitors can thus form more meaningful connections with the work and make more informed decisions.

OFFSITE PRESENTATIONS
This year, in addition to the solo show in the booth, we are introducing the possibility of presenting a second artist outside of the traditional fair space. This additional work could be a performance, an outdoor sculpture, a sound piece, or a video—formats that, due to their nature, are not ideally suited to booth display. These special presentations will be installed in various locations around Punta del Este and its surroundings—La Barra, Manantiales, Pueblo Garzón, or José Ignacio—and must be specifically conceived for this context, whether as a new creation by a living artist or an iconic work by a deceased artist, shown for the first time in this setting.

UNSEEN OR HISTORIC ARTWORKS
All works must be exhibited for the first time. In the case of active artists, the pieces must not have been previously shown in galleries, museums, or other public or private spaces. Exceptionally, for deceased or inactive artists, works with proven historical relevance that have significantly contributed to the development of a region, culture, or artistic movement will be accepted. In all cases, we seek works that can truly be considered iconic. We present legendary pieces.

IMMERSIVE PROGRAM
Within ESTE FOCUS, each gallery will have a scheduled space for its presentation and a specific area equipped with digital exhibition technology to facilitate in-depth business meetings. If the exhibiting artist is present, a guided tour of their booth will be organized during public hours.

PHYSICAL FORMAT
Does this work need to be experienced in person, or can it simply be viewed online? It is important for projects to address that question. Works presented in physical format should be related to the current physical context, considering their materiality, tangibility, physicality, perspective, and installation.

DIGITAL FORMAT
Each gallery must ensure that all available works are accessible in a high-quality digital format. This includes high-resolution images, detailed descriptions, provenance information, pricing, and relevant documentation to facilitate viewing. Digital accessibility will enhance engagement with collectors, curators, and potential buyers both in person and remotely.

SELECTION CRITERIA

ICONIC
Galleries will be selected based on iconic, thought-provoking proposals that demonstrate artistic quality and conceptual coherence. Consideration should be given to the influence and stature of the artist or work in terms of understanding the past, present, and future of artistic creation.

IN CONTEXT
Each project must reflect the artist’s unique vision and their contribution to society. Special value will be placed on works created with the context of the platform in Uruguay in mind. This contextual approach not only enriches the work but also ensures that the presentation and impact of the art are more sustainable and relevant in the long term.

SELECTION COMMITTEE
Proposals will be evaluated by a selection committee composed of six distinguished philanthropists and nationally and internationally renowned collectors.
