Mario Bergara, Economist and politician (Uruguay)
in conversation with Pablo Uribe, Artist (Uruguay)
Pablo Uribe (Uruguay) has made nineteen individual exhibitions and participated in more than sixty collective exhibitions in Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Sweden, Venezuela, Italy, France, Germany and the United States. Represented Uruguay on several occasions, among which stand out: 53rd Venice Biennial, Italy; II and IV Mercosul Biennial, Porto Alegre, Brazil; VII Biennial of Havana, Cuba; IX International Biennial of Art (SIART), La Paz, Bolivia; V Vento Sul Biennial, Curitiba, Brazil. In 2001, the Ministry of Education and Culture awarded him the National Visual Arts Grand Prize for the Trypt of Heaven triptych. In 2016 he received the XXI Figari Prize awarded by the Central Bank of Uruguay. He currently exhibits Aquí Soñó Blanes Viale monographic exhibition at the MNAV, Uruguay.
Mario Bergara (Uruguay) is an economist and public accountant of the UdelaR. He completed a Masters and PhD in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. He has worked as a teacher and he has published books and articles in areas of institutional economics, regulation of public services and banking economics at a national and international level. Politically, he was Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (2005-2008), Minister of Economy and Finance of Uruguay (2013-2015) and President of the Central Bank of Uruguay (2008-2013 and 2015-2018). He was awarded with the Elise and Walter Haas International Prize from the University of California, Berkeley (2008).
