in conversation with Sigismond de Vajay, Artist, (Argentina-Suiza)
Sigismond de Vajay (Argentina-Switzerland) is a protean artist, curator and publisher, Argentinian, Hungarian and Swiss, born in Paris. He worked in Vevey, Barcelona and New York, where he studied at the SVA. Since 2009 he lives in Buenos Aires. His works include installations, drawings, videos, interventions in the public space and sculptures. In 2002 he moved to Barcelona, where he set up with a collective a platform for contemporary art, KBB (Kültur Büro Barcelona). His work highlights the systems that govern the planet, irregularities and social differences, power and global control. With a disenchanted look, his art oscillates ceaselessly between the human and the machine, the individual and the mass, or even nature and technology. Since 2012 he works with the Xippas Galleries in Paris, Montevideo and Geneva and since 2018 with Aninat Gallery in Chile.
Martín Craciun (Uruguay) Curator, artist, teacher and researcher in the fields of contemporary art and contemporary culture. He co-curated the Uruguayan Pavilion at the XII and XIV Architecture Venice Biennial (2010 and 201)4, he participated in the XII biennial of Havana (2015), the 7th and 11th Biennial of Mercosur (2008 and 2018). He was the curator of the Uruguayan participation to the XI and XII Biennial of Media Arts of Chile (2015 and 2017), guest curator at the IX SIART Biennial of La Paz, Bolivia (2016) and guest curator for Lisbon Iberoamerica Capital of Culture (2017). He is General director and artistic director of SOCO Festival; International festival of advanced music and contemporary culture of Uruguay.
