Located in Rosario, Argentina, it stands out for its proposal to create a dialogue between collections of modern art and contemporary works by current artists. Its curatorial approach highlights both the aesthetic quality and the concept behind the pieces, fostering critical reflection on changes in visual language as well as social and cultural concerns.

ESTE ARTE 2025 | Fabián Burgos

Fabián Burgos

BIO

The opportunity to exhibit in both spaces brings together all the works I’ve been creating over the past few months. Usually, when I work for an exhibition, certain ideas emerge that define the aesthetic of the work, and a concept appears that groups paintings into series that can tell a predetermined story. On this occasion, the concepts and the act of painting itself go beyond the ideas.

The strength of the experimentation with materials and the space of the paintings becomes, for me, at this moment, more sensitive and powerful. I always work a lot with drawing to convey a concept. Today, I’m more interested in painting to understand what I want to say than in painting to express an already conceived idea. In this sense, the paintings for these shows have become more autonomous while simultaneously more dependent on my body.

Gestures, unexpected decisions regarding color, the boundaries between planes, awkward gestures, or palettes that are unusual for me, begin to define what my mind used to dictate. It’s true that in this group of paintings, there is a resonance of previous ideas, such as the concept of the optical in “parallel lines,” or the gradient to discuss “the visible spectrum,” or the paintings with chess-like movements that speak of the visible or the invisible. But even when returning to these themes, today these paintings are imbued with a density that better aligns with my current sense of sensitivity and my strong interest in color, material, and the possibilities of accidents that I once limited but now expand.

Fabián Burgos

CURATORIAL

In the next edition of Este Arte, Circa is proud to present the innovative work of Fabián Burgos, an artist who redefines the boundaries of geometric abstraction. With a career marked by the exploration of shapes and their interaction with materials, Burgos occupies a unique space within the contemporary art scene.

Fabián Burgos describes his creative process as a constant dialogue between geometric structure and organic fluidity. "My topics of work have always circulated around the margins of geometric abstraction. And I say 'margins' because I have never adhered strictly to the historical tenets of that movement. I always try to open up encounters with the expression and sensitivity that the material— in this case, oil paint— offers. Today, I’m working with geometry but combined with more organic forms. The structures I have always built through drawing, I now confront and break apart with paint. My desire is to create emotion from the deconstructed hard forms."

Our proposal for Este Arte 2025 aims to captivate the Uruguayan audience with pieces that invite deep reflection on the interaction between order and chaos, the rigid and the fluid. We firmly believe that Burgos’s work, with its distinctive and adaptable identity, will resonate deeply on this platform, offering a memorable and emotional artistic experience.
